In the line of duty

I am rising with the dawn and
enjoying these Summer days.

The birds are up early too.

They follow their own inner way.

The bird seed sunflowers by my office window are ripening.

I enjoy watching the Gold Finches pluck seeds from the heads.
A Tawny Emperor warmed on the glass.
It was cooler today.
The rain went south.
We attended the dedication ceremony of the new Police Academy.
It is named in honor of my cousin.
He died in the line of duty in 1978.
It was a moving dedication.
His family cut the ribbon.
His family and the community honored him.

I thought about my service.
I thought about what I have given in the line of duty.

I am following the Moon.
I am following my passions.
I am following the Golden Rule.

  1. Dear Sherry,

How wonderful that your cousin was honoured in such a way. I am sure all the family were moved by such a tribute.

You are by nature a giver my friend. Your kind words comfort those who suffer or struggle with daily life.
You give to mother earth......you work with her each day.
I am honoured to call you my friend.

The birds are beautiful.......also the pretty butterfly.
I felt autumn this morning.....too early, but it did touch me. I wonder if she may come early to my gardens.

  2. I couldn't agree with more with Cheryl. You are, by nature, and probably without conscious awareness, a giver of many many beautiful gifts to the universe. I think all of my Goldfinches must be at your house this Summer. I usually cannot keep them all fed but this year there are only a very few. Unfortunately, it hasn't cooled one degree here YET but hope is on the way---maybe tomorrow? Maybe Sunday? Who would have believed that I would be waiting for upper 80s, to be considered 'cool'? :d
