Artist Date

It was cold and sunny this morning when I dressed
 for our Artist Date.
Perfect weather to wear my Cowgirl hat.
We had breakfast at the creperie, Chez Elle.
My new favorite breakfast spot!
They have gluten free, delicious, crepes!

We decided to visit the Nelson Atkins Museum again.

This time we spent a couple of hours in the
 American Indian exhibit.

This stone ax was found right here in the Kansas City area.
A beautiful tool dated 2000-1000 BCE.
Our ancesters were artists.
Their tools were exquisite.
The leaves of the Ginkgo Trees have fallen.

A gorgeous carpet covered the lawn.

The shuttlecocks
remind me art can be fun!
I had a wonderful date.

Artist Date

We walked on a restored section
of Tallgrass Prairie this afternoon for our Artist Date.
It is was wonderful.
The sky was clear and the wind a gentle breeze.
The Northern Harrier hunted while we walked.

Gold Finches fed on seed heads.

The grasses have turned Autumn Red.

I was hunting for wild Rose hips.
I gathered enough for a few pots of winter tea.
I will mix them with Chamomile.
I was so happy to see wild Bittersweet.

I grow plenty in my backyard so I did not gather.
Hopefully it will continue to grow on the Prairie.
It is protected here.
I was also happy to see lots of Milkweed pods
bursting with seed. Host plants for the Monarch butterflies.

The breeze came up and rippled the reflections
in the ponds.

A water beetle swam to the log.

A turtle sat sunning.

I saw a Buckeye butterfly and an
Orange Sulphur flying in the afternoon sun.
This was a fun Artist date.

I am a Tallgrass Prairie girl.

November

The sun felt nice this afternoon when
I sat outside with the birds.
We received 2 inches of much needed rain yesterday.

The North wind continues to spin the Wind Spinner
and all day the Wind Harp has been singing.

I was sheltered from the wind.
The deck is on the south side of the house.
We quickly packed up October and cleaned the house.
Decorating for November was very easy and fun.
I really like our November things.
I have much fun in November.
Each morning I choose a card.
Swan is one of my totems.
I was so pleased to start the month off with her.
My friend gave me these cards.

I am a turtle.....
We have lots of music we listen to in November.
November is a relaxed month at my house.

I have begun a serious study of the Native Women in America.

A few hours of leaf pick up remain.
My husband racked and mulched the flower beds
while I decorated our November house.
We have not had a hard freeze. Once we do there will be some vegetable garden clean up to do.
The vegetable garden still has squash!

These are my Cowgirl days.

My Cowgirl Dolly stays up all year in the doll cabinet.
In November she moves to the mantle.

In November Cowgirls and Indian Princess take center stage.

Moccasins welcome friends and family.

I welcome November.
Today was a gorgeous, sweet, crisp November day.
